IELTS in Australia-November(2009)General Training

IELTS in Western Australia was described by N. (thanks a lot!), who shared the following topics and questions:

Listening test

Section 1: A dialogue between a tenant and a real estate agent. The tenant complained about the deterioration of her rental apartment.
Questions: Filling in gaps.

Section 2: Tourism in Canada.
Questions: Filling in gaps.

Section 3: Research regarding single-sex education.
Questions: Multiple choice.

Section 4: Research regarding men’s and women`s fear of maths.
Questions: Filling in gaps.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)
Write a complaint letter to a moving company, let them know that they have damaged some of your furniture, tell them you`re not happy about the service and suggest a solution.

Writing task 2 (an essay)
Is the protection of environment the responsibility of individuals or of the Government? Discuss, what is your opinion?

Speaking test


Interview
- How do you spell your name?
- Where do you live?
- How is the public transport there?
- What do you do in your free time?
- Do you read? What sort of books do you read?
- If you were to spend a night with friends, would you rather go out or have a dinner party at home? And why?

Cue card
Talk about your favorite TV show or movie, you should say:
- who plays in it,
- why you like it,
- what is the story.

Discussion
Then followed by few a more questions about movies:
- If you`d compare kids movies from the past to the ones from today, what do you think has changed?
- Do you prefer foreign movies (dubbed in English) or American movies?
- Do you prefer to go to the cinema to watch a movie or a DVD. Explain why?
