IELTS in Myanmar – December 2009 (Academic Module)

IELTS in Yagon, Myanmar was kindly shared by P. (thank you!) and here is what we know about it:

Listening test

Section 1: About a barbecue.
Questions: Filling in the gaps (table completion), sentence completion.

Section 2: About a students’ trip.
Questions: Filling in the gaps (pick a word from the list) and multiple choice questions.

Section 3: Life science project.
Questions: Filling in the gaps, table completion, classification.

Section 4: Research on child psychology.
Questions: Table completion and multiple choice questions.

Reading test

Passage 1: A text about sound waves.
Questions: True/False/Not Given, finding information in the paragraphs.

Passage 2: A text about crocodiles.
Questions: Headings matching and a summary completion using words from the passage.

Passage 3: Invention of telegraph.
Questions: Information matching, multiple choice and finding information in the paragraphs.


Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)
We had a table with numbers of visitors globally and regionally.

Writing task 2 (an essay)
Working from home benefits only the workers, not the employers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Speaking test

Interview
- What is your name?
- Do you work or study?
- What do you think about your work?
- What clothes do you prefer?
- Do you go shopping?
- Do you like flowers?
- Where are they usually grown?
- On what occasions people in your country give flowers to each other?

Cue card
My cue card task was to describe something old that I or my family have kept.

Discussion
I was asked questions about museums and keeping things from the past.
